There is a sifting taking place in the Body of Christ. The Lord is trying to find out those who are truly His. The Lord is asking us to allow Him complete access to our inner spaces and to allow Him to drive out those things in our lives that aren’t pleasing to Him.

As faithful to our churches as we may have been, have we actually become satisfied with our church lives? Have we put upon a pedestal those programs we love and let our satisfaction drown out the forlorn cries of the lost as they drift nearer to a Christ-less eternity?

Have we let a religious spirit slowly make us satisfied with the ordinary rather than if the Lord ‘wants to do a new thing’?

Can you sense the Lord reaching out with His loving hands, asking us to truly follow Him? Will we become completely abandoned to God? Let us this evening spend our revival prayer time confessing our sin to the Lord and asking Him to purify us.

How Specter’s Defection Actually Helps the GOP Fight Liberal Judges:

In light of liberal Supreme Court Justice David Souter’s pending retirement, careful insider analysis of Senator Arlen Specter’s defection from Republican to Democrat reveals a strange irony: Although he could give the Democrats a 60-seat filibuster-proof majority, his defection actually strengthens the “rule of quorum” power and purity of Republican opposition within the Senate Judiciary Committee, who are now more united than ever in their opposition to liberal judges.  The prime example is President Obama’s nomination of the ANTI-JESUS, ANTI-LIFE Judge David Hamilton, the same bad judge who issued controversial rulings banning public prayers offered “in Jesus name,” and hastening the abortion of unborn children.   Republicans are following traditional “quorum rules” which can prevent Judge David Hamilton from getting any committee vote.  If this continues, we’ll win, and this anti-Jesus, anti-Life Judge will never be promoted to the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals. 

Quorum rules?  Yes!  The Senate Judiciary Committee procedural rules state:  “Eight Members of the Committee, including at least two Members of the minority, shall constitute a quorum for the purpose of transacting business… If there is objection to bring the matter to a vote without further debate, a roll call vote of the Committee shall be taken, and debate shall be terminated if the motion to bring the matter to a vote without further debate passes with ten votes in the affirmative, one of which must be cast by the minority.” On April 29th, only one minority Member attended the Hamilton hearings, Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK), whose tough questioning opposed Hamilton, so no vote was permissible.

When Specter had ruled Judiciary as GOP minority ranking member, he could likely be counted on by the Obama administration as “one soft vote” to promote liberal judges.  But now since Specter is no longer Republican, he cannot help Obama.  And in breaking news this week, solid conservative Senator Jeff Sessions (R-AL) has assumed Specter’s place of leadership as minority ranking Member, and all other Judiciary Republicans Hatch, Grassley, Kyl, Graham, Cornyn, Coburn, can generally be counted upon (with the possible exception of gang-of-14 member Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-SC, 202-224-5972), to stand firm against abortion and religious censorship.  Now Sen. Sessions says he agrees with Sen. James Inhofe (R-OK), that we should oppose and filibuster Hamilton’s nomination to the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals, the same court that reversed his liberal, activist, aggressive decisions for years. Only by re-writing the quorum rules, and overriding Senate tradition, can Democrats claim absolute power.

To support Senators Inhofe and Sessions, and stop Hamilton, we first need solidarity among any good conservatives or moderates seated on the 19-member Senate Judiciary Committee, especially Sen. Arlen Specter (D-PA), who could remain on Judiciary as a Democrat.  Senator Specter’s phone number is 202-224-4254, and you might call to ask him to OPPOSE AND FILIBUSTER Judge David Hamilton, and keep his promise not to “rubber-stamp” the Obama administration.

But even then we’ll need 40 strong Senate votes, including Nebraska Sen. Ben Nelson (D-NE), both Arkansas Senators Pryor and Lincoln (D-AR), both Maine Senators Collins and Snowe (R-ME), and all Senators in either party from southern states, to inhibit the majority cloture vote, and prevent Hamilton from getting a final floor vote.

We’re now the leading national voice against Hamilton, and we’re getting traction, much to the horror of many liberal groups (including the National Abortion Rights Action League who is actively campaigning FOR Hamilton). So please also call both your own Senators at 202-225-3121.

 Judge Hamilton is the worst of Obama’s 15 new liberal appeals court appointees. The 7th Circuit Court of Appeals covers Wisconsin, Indiana and Illinois.  Since most cases never reach the Supreme Court, the federal appellate circuits often provide the last word on cases affecting life and liberty.

READ THE FACTS:

The Judicial Confirmation Network quickly opposed Hamilton’s nomination, stating that “President Obama’s first nominee to the federal appeals courts — specifically the appeals court based in Chicago — is an ultra-liberal named David Hamilton who is a former fundraiser for ACORN and former leader of the Indiana chapter of the ACLU. He was nominated to the district court bench by President Clinton even though he had no judicial experience and was rated as ‘not qualified’ by the American Bar Association.”

Hamilton ruled in 2005 to ban the practice of opening the chamber’s business with prayers mentioning Jesus Christ or using terms such as “Savior.” He said that amounted to state endorsement of a religion. (But he ruled prayers to “Allah” were perfectly lawful.)

ANTI-JESUS, BUT PRO-ALLAH?

Judge Hamilton wrote: “The injunction orders the Speaker…that the prayers should not use Christ’s name or title or any other denominational appeal…If those offering prayers in the Indiana House of Representatives choose to use the Arabic ‘Allah’…the court sees little risk that the choice of language would advance a particular religion or disparage others.”

In other words, Judge Hamilton ruled the words “Jesus” or “Christ” or “Savior” are illegal words, prohibited for public speech, banned by the First Amendment, which somehow prohibits freedom of religious expression, and makes Christian prayers ILLEGAL in a public forum. (What crazy version of the First Amendment is he reading?)

Thank God, we took action in 2007 and provided legal arguments to the Indiana Attorney General who appealed to the 7th Circuit Court and WE WON a 2-1 decision overruling Hamilton, restoring the right to pray “in Jesus name” in Indiana.  But if Hamilton is promoted to the same court that overruled him, that good reversal could be in jeopardy.

ANTI-LIFE BUT PRO-ABORTION?

In 2003, Judge Hamilton struck down part of an Indiana law on abortion. The reasonable law had required abortion clinics to simply give women information about alternatives to abortion in the presence of a physician or nurse, 18 hours before the procedure, until Hamilton ruled to hasten abortions. But thank God, the 7th Circuit Court also reversed Hamilton’s bad decision in that case.

If confirmed now Hamilton will sit on that 7th Circuit Court (the same court that frequently overruled him) with tyrannical power to rule the heartland of Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin with his anti-life, anti-liberty, anti-Christian agenda.

WE CAN WIN THIS BATTLE!

We’ve already sent thousands of faxes to the full Senate, and we’re getting results!  On April 1st and again on April 29th, Senator Orrin Hatch led all Republicans to walk out of the Senate Judiciary Committee, in protest against the Democrat “rush job” to confirm Judge Hamilton.  Sen. Jeff Sessions of Alabama, said he was troubled by Hamilton’s ruling against a sectarian prayer to open the Indiana House of Representatives.  Even Senator Arlen Specter expressed concern. But will any Democrats oppose the anti-Jesus Hamilton?

It is truly amazing how much news the American news media chooses to ignore. If one wants to discover what is actually going on in the world, he or she often has to go to the foreign press. This has again been the case with a story that every American should be extremely interested in, but which has been totally ignored by the American news media. I found this story in Russia Today.

According to RussiaToday.com, “The personal computer may soon be not-so-private, with the U.S. and some European nations working on laws allowing them access to search the content held on a person’s hard drive.

“President Obama’s administration is keeping unusually tight-lipped on the details, which is raising concerns among computer users and liberty activists.”

The report also states, “In extreme secrecy from the public, the United States is hammering out an international copyright treaty with several other countries and the European Union. Under the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (or ACTA), governments will get sweeping new powers to search and seize material thought to be in breach of copyright. But why all the secrecy?”

Russia Today quotes Richard Stallman, prominent American software freedom activist, as saying, “Democracy gets bypassed and they can do to us whatever they want. I can only guess that it’s going to be nasty, because if it weren’t going to be nasty, they wouldn’t need to keep it a secret.”

The report also said, “Up until now, the breach of copyright has been a civil matter. The Obama administration seems to now want to criminalize it.”

The report continued saying, “Some say modern America is being overtaken by a culture of surveillance.”

A culture of surveillance indeed. What began in earnest under former President George W. Bush is now sharply escalating under President Barack Obama.

According to Ecommerce Journal, President Obama and his Big Brother fellow travelers in Congress are seeking power to “cut the whole world off the Internet.” The report says, “Senators John Rockefeller and Olympia Snowe proposed the Cybersecurity Act that would create the Office of the National Cybersecurity Advisor. Its powers are detailed in the The Cybersecurity Act of 2009.

“If the President so chooses, he can call a ‘cybersecurity emergency’ and shut down or limit any ‘net traffic or a ‘critical’ network ‘in the name of national security,’ though the bill fails to provide concrete definitions on what is ‘critical’ or what constitutes an ‘emergency.’”

The report goes on to say, “This new legislation seeks to give even more power to the government to regulate the Internet and, in future, the possibility to regulate content and usage. What begins as a method of defeating terrorism and protecting telecommunications, can quickly become a method to regulate ‘hate speech’ to assign ‘motive’ or ‘intent’ to harm and even to regulate and legislate the flow of information that is deemed by the ‘thought police’ to be inflammatory or counter-productive to their cause.”

The report says that the new cybersecurity legislation can be a “framework for future, more invasive legislation. It is a first step to the loss of internet privacy, free speech and the free flow of information.”

So, once again, the passing of a Republican Presidential administration and the advent of a Democratic Presidential administration have resulted in zero change in the overall direction of the ship of state. In the name of “national security,” the federal government of this country continues to deepen its commitment to what can only be described as a police-state mentality. And, once again, the national news media in America chooses to ignore the story, and by so doing, shows willful compliance with this disturbing phenomenon.

I wonder how many Obama supporters are paying attention?

During the Bush years, my “conservative” brethren (especially the ones calling themselves Christians) repeatedly turned a blind eye and deaf ear to the myriad foibles and falsehoods, and frequent fraudulence of President Bush because he was a Republican. Now we will see how many Obama supporters will look the other way in order to protect President Obama because he is a Democrat. I suspect most of them will show themselves of no better character than the Bush supporters.

Consider: Obama promised to end the war in Iraq. But what has he done since being elected? He merely moved the major combat theater to Afghanistan. He is even in the process of escalating the war in Afghanistan to possibly include Pakistan. So, where are the “peacenik” liberals who supported Obama? Why do they not loudly proclaim their opposition, as they did when Bush was in office?

Furthermore, Obama criticized Bush’s undisciplined deficit spending, but what has he done since becoming President? He has deeply expanded Bush’s failed financial policy of excessive deficit spending. Again, where are all the loud voices of protest?

George Bush wanted amnesty for illegal aliens. Barack Obama wants amnesty for illegal aliens. George Bush supported the assault weapons ban. Barack Obama supports the assault weapons ban. George Bush wanted to limit the legal rights of certain people charged with crimes. Well, friends, Barack Obama also wants to limit the rights of people charged with crimes.

Just last week, an Associated Press report stated, “The Obama administration is asking the Supreme Court to overrule long-standing law that stops police from initiating questions unless a defendant’s lawyer is present, another stark example of the White House seeking to limit rather than expand rights.

“The administration’s action–and several others–have disappointed civil rights and civil liberties groups that expected President Barack Obama to reverse the policies of his Republican predecessor, George W. Bush, after the Democrat’s call for change during the 2008 campaign.”

So, where are Obama’s supporters who thought they were voting for change? Will they do nothing, as did Bush’s supporters, and accept this abridgment of personal liberty, simply because “their man” is in the White House? Probably.

In addition, George Bush created a Big-Government monster known as the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Can there be any doubt that DHS is in the process of manufacturing a ubiquitous surveillance society that eavesdrops, snoops, and monitors virtually our entire lives? And what does Barack Obama do immediately after assuming office? He multiplies and expands the surveillance society to even greater degrees. So again I ask, where are all the Bush critics to denounce Barack Obama’s draconian anti-privacy, anti-freedom policies?

The Internet is the last best source of free and independent information left. Think where the liberty movement would be without the Internet. But even as we speak, President Obama and his allies in Congress are attempting to obtain the authority to censor information on–and curtail access to–the Internet. Plus, in the name of “cybersecurity,” they are plotting to obtain the authority to monitor and seize anyone’s personal computer at will.

The Russia Today report is right: we do have a culture of surveillance. We also have a culture of cowardice by people from both sides of the political aisle who, in the name of partisan politics, are willfully accommodating and facilitating the demise of this constitutional republic.

One of the greatest disappointments expressed by former President George W. Bush was his inability to provide amnesty for tens of millions of illegal aliens. But as is so often the case, the departure of one Presidential administration and the advent of another Presidential administration seldom means great change, loquacious rhetoric by the current President notwithstanding. The plan to provide amnesty for illegal aliens is a classic case in point.

President Barack Obama is determined to succeed where G.W. Bush failed. According to many published reports, he fully intends to grant amnesty to tens of millions of illegal aliens. In fact, granting amnesty to illegal aliens is on Obama’s short list of priorities. That short list includes the nationalization of America’s financial systems, the nationalization of America’s healthcare and energy systems, expanding the wars in the Middle East, strengthening and increasing global agreements and associations, gun control (perhaps using international treaties where congressional legislation has failed), and amnesty to illegal aliens.

Watch for Obama to make a full-court press for an amnesty proposal next month. He has already appointed working groups to study strategies. Administration sources have said Obama wants amnesty legislation on his desk by this fall at the latest.

One way Obama is preparing the path for amnesty is contained in the massive stimulus bill already passed by Congress and signed into law. According to USA Today, “Tens of thousands of jobs created by the economic stimulus law could end up filled by illegal immigrants, particularly in big states such as California where undocumented workers are heavily represented in construction, experts on both sides of the issue say.

“Studies by two conservative think tanks estimate immigrants in the United States illegally could take 300,000 construction jobs, or 15% of the 2 million jobs that new taxpayer-financed projects are predicted to create.”

What both Presidents Bush and Obama (and John McCain, too) refuse to acknowledge is the devastating effects that illegal immigration inflicts upon the overall health and safety of the people of United States. In strict financial terms, the numbers are staggering.

According to research by Frosty Wooldridge, over $2 billion is spent on food assistance programs such as food stamps, WIC, and free school lunches for illegal aliens every year; $2.5 billion is spent on Medicaid for illegal aliens every year; $12 billion is spent on primary and secondary school education every year for children here illegally (and most cannot speak a word of English); $17 billion a year is spent on education for so-called “anchor babies”; and $90 billion a year is spent on illegal aliens for welfare and social services. Add all of the various costs to U.S. taxpayers for illegal aliens and the total is a whopping $338 billion each year.

In addition, according to Robert Rector, a scholar at the Heritage Foundation, each illegal alien household will cost the American taxpayers over $1 million dollars over a lifetime. This figure is derived from a meticulous calculation of immediate services received versus any and all taxes paid.

Add to the financial costs of illegal immigration the cost of criminal activity perpetrated by illegals, and an even grislier picture appears.

Over $4 million a DAY is spent to incarcerate illegal aliens; 29% of all prison inmates are illegal aliens; 13 Americans are killed EVERY DAY by drunk-driving illegal aliens; Latino gangs, such as MS-13 and the 18th Street Gang, are now found in at least 37 states; and in New Mexico, nearly half of jail and prison inmates are illegal aliens.

Additionally, FreeRepublic.com recently released FBI statistics showing that 95% of warrants for murder in Los Angeles during the First Quarter of 2006 were for illegal aliens. 83% of warrants for murder in Phoenix were for illegal aliens. In Albuquerque the percentage was 86%. The Most Wanted lists in those three cities found that 75% were illegal aliens. In the southern Border States, illegal aliens perpetrated 53% of all investigated burglaries. Plus, 71% of all apprehended stolen cars in Border States were stolen by illegal aliens.

Furthermore, according to Congressman Steve King (R-Iowa), illegal aliens murder 12 American citizens EVERY DAY. Put that murder statistic in perspective: illegal aliens murder more Americans EVERY YEAR than the total number of U.S. soldiers that have been killed in Iraq in over 5 years of fighting.

In addition, according to Dr. Deborah Schurman-Kauflin of the Violent Crimes Institute (VCI), “there are approximately 240,000 illegal immigrant sex offenders in the United States. This translates to 93 sex offenders and 12 serial sexual offenders coming across U.S. borders illegally per day.” According to Dr. Schurman-Kauflin, illegals “averaged 4 victims per offender. Nearly 63% had been deported on another offense prior to the sex crime.”

Dr. Schurman-Kauflin concludes her report saying, “Illegal immigrants who commit sex crimes first cross the U.S. border illegally. Then they gradually commit worse crimes and are continually released back into society or deported. Those who were deported simply returned illegally again. Only 2% of the offenders in this study has no history of criminal behavior, beyond crossing the border illegally. There is a clear pattern of criminal escalation. From misdemeanors such as assault or DUI, to drug offenses, illegal immigrants who commit sex crimes break U.S. laws repeatedly. They are highly mobile, work in low skilled jobs with their hands, use drugs and alcohol, are generally promiscuous, have little family stability, and choose victims who are easy to attack. Their attacks are particularly brutal, and they use a hands-on method of controlling and/or killing their victims.”

Mind you, this is only a small sampling of the carnage, both fiscally and criminally, that illegal aliens inflict upon America. And yet, G.W. Bush, John McCain, and Barack Obama still desire to provide amnesty and permanent U.S. citizenship to illegal aliens. A Prayer To Almighty God

and Georgetown President John J. DeGioia

Dear Sir:

We, the undersigned, express dismay that The White House protocol office and staff members from Georgetown University deliberately conspired to cover up and hide the name of Jesus Christ, by shrouding black cloth over the Christian symbol “IHS” (a monogram that represents Jesus’ name), during the April 15th speech by President Obama at Georgetown University in Gaston Hall. 

Since Georgetown University is a Catholic, Jesuit, and faith-based institution, people expect the name of Jesus Christ to be honored, not hidden as an embarrassment to the President. 

Regardless if President Obama may be personally offended by the name of Jesus, or if White House communications strategists fear he cannot compete with the “distraction” of standing beneath the written name of Jesus Christ, we still expect Georgetown University has the right to display Jesus’ name, and indeed remains bound to the high duty and obligation to worship God through Christ, rather than show deference to a mere man. 

We pray, therefore, both President Obama and University President DeGioia will both issue public statements of apology, and refrain from dishonoring Jesus’ name in the future.
